WINDSOR, Colo. — After a pair of heartbreaking defeats to Albion SC Colorado earlier this season, Northern Colorado Rain FC prevailed in the teams’ third meeting, taking home a 1-0 victory on Wednesday night.
“We’re trying to chase second place and this took us one step closer to that,” Rain FC head coach Kelly Brown said. “It took everybody playing all 90 minutes.”
It was early in the second half when the only goal of the match came courtesy of Jace Holley, who scored in her third straight match, all three of which have been Rain wins.
“I think I’ve found a place where I’m balanced and fresh, but also have good fitness,” Holley said.
The Rain had lost each of their first two meetings with Albion on late set piece goals, but were able to keep them off the scoreboard this time. The win also moved them to second place in the USL W League Mountain Division, which they can secure with a win in Sunday’s season finale against Flatirons FC.
