WINDSOR, Colo. — Northern Colorado Rain FC got back into the win column on Monday, taking a 1-0 victory over Mountain Division-leading Colorado Storm at 4Rivers Equipment Stadium.
Midfielder Caeley Lordemann provided the loan goal of the game, a missile from outside the box from a Fiona Jenkins corner kick in the 55th minute.
“We were over getting water and I decided to stay over there and be an option, and they had no idea,” Lordemann said.
The Rain were in control for most of the second half, especially after the goal. They held the Storm to just three shots after the break, none of which were on target.
Storm had beat Rain, 4-0, in the first meeting between the teams in Denver last week.
“We learned a lot the first time we saw them,” Rain FC head coach Kelly Brown said. “We worked hard, learned a lot with film, and our girls are smart. They took the information to heart and executed.”
The Rain will be back in action Thursday against Flatirons FC at 4Rivers Equipment Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
