WINDSOR, Colo. — Northern Colorado Rain FC debuted in style with a 14-0 win over a shorthanded Colorado International Soccer Academy (CISA) squad that fielded just nine players.
The win followed an 8-1 triumph in Rain’s season opener on Thursday against CISA in Parker.
“I think it was important to show the fans who we are and get the preseason nerves out and just get time playing together,” Rain FC head coach Kelly Brown said.
The Rain were led by the performance of forward Skylar Haase, who scored a hat trick after coming on at halftime. That brought her to five goals on the young season after scoring a pair in the season opener.
“It’s been good to get a couple goals under our belts and really figure out how each other play,” Haase said.
There were also a pair of goals on the day for midfielder Bella Amyx and forwards Anisa Guajardo and Britney Bertram. Also contributing a goal and assist each were midfielders Ally Murphy-Pauletto, Sabrina Weinman, and Jace Holley.
“We’re deep,” Brown said. “We have a lot of different player combinations we could throw in our lineup any given day.”
The Rain will now have a quick turnaround before facing Colorado Storm at 7 p.m. Tuesday night in Denver.
